Christmas Is About Killing People

It's good to know that people of the highest calibre are sitting in judgement on the troublesome empire that is The BBC. Head honcho at Biased BBC David Vance, for instance, demonstrates almost hourly his own qualities, and just as importantly, his uncanny ability to spot quality in others.

Today, the proof lies in his wise choice of American pardners for his Irish blog, A Tangled Web... the delightful husband and wife team known as Grizzly Mama/Troll. Mr Vance's blogging chums have been offering their idea of a cheerful Xmas card to send the folks this Yuletide:

Silent night, holy night to you, too, Grizzlies.

Update: Mr Grizzly explains that his philosophy flows from the Second Amendment:
The PEOPLE shall be allowed to own and carry their guns so that if the POLITICIANS become a threat to our FREEDOMS the People can form Militias and over throw the Government by force if necessary.
Minimum force, presumably?
God the world should be spared that sight. We would make the (Palestinians) look like a Saturday Night Live or a Python skit in comparisons of what the level of Violence would be.
They've got it coming, Grizzly. Almost certainly.

  1. The Grizzlies want to kill America? Surely the authorities should be alerted to this fact...

  5. Yes, Grizzly Back or whichever one of them is talking whenever, or both of them, are what we'd called ultra-conservatives rather than neo-conservatives we see in the form of, say, The Phantom.

It's a weird ground to hold for those people, who wish for every person to be armed to the teeth so they can overthrow the government because they're not doing exactly what Grizzly Tool wants them to do, complaining that people are straying away from the original text of the constitution and advocating armed revolution because of that - all the while ignoring the bit in the Declaration of Independence that says such actions should never be taken lightly, or without very good reason. Revolution, for them, is a right, not a last resort.

They have some bizarre views of the world as it is - I saw them say at one point that under Bush, America had "almost 100% employment", and they consider themselves to be "average Americans". Demographically they might be just that, but demographics are no marker of what constitutes an average citizen - and these two do not constitute average citizen in any way except the demographic.

But don't worry, that picture, "it historicly accurate", at least.

I don't know any Conservative who would claim the Grizzlies as fellow-travellers. They're something else entirely; something deeply unpleasant and irrational.

  7. Small C conservative, small U ultra-conservative - even normal conservatives aren't so stuck to a 250 year old document that they refuse to accept the values and principles therein might have to change.
